The Herald’s own reporter, Johnston Ralston, was the speaker at the latest meeting of Arbroath Rotary Club.

Johnston, who was introduced by Dr Rusty Smith, delivered an entertaining presentation which focused on his trip to South America.

He had several interesting stories to tell, supported by some excellent pictures, all of which were warmly received by the club members.

The following office bearers were appointed at the club’s annual general meeting: Frank McDiarmid was appointed as community and vocational service convener; Maureen Morrison as the club’s foundation convener; and Danny Gentles as international convener.

Dr John Caldwell will be the club’s treasurer in the club’s New Year along with Stuart Scott as vice-president; Harry Simpson as president-elect and David Miller will take up the role of club president.

President Iain Grimmond was in the chair and the formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr John Caldwell.
