At the 2014 HAAR Festival a calendar celebrating 10 years of the festival was launched and will also help support the event.

The creation of Rikki and Ann Craig, the ‘People and Place’ calendar celebrates the rich history of Auchmithie and Arbroath, and 15 per cent of all private sales will go to supporting the Heritage Arts Auchmithie Residents (HAAR) festival.

Rikki is a well known local artist and former High School teacher. Ann is perhaps best known for her performances as Annie Gilruth in her one woman play she wrote to celebrate the early life of a woman who made a difference to Auchmithie in the 19th century.

Delighted with the response so far Rikki said: “The calendar is called ‘People and Place’ and the paintings featured have been selected especially for each month to say something about the rich fishing heritage of Auchmithie and Arbroath.

“The paintings have been done over the HAAR years and the selection of words are taken from a longer poem by Ann called ‘Of My Place’.”

Copies are available from the But ‘n’ Ben restaurant, the Card Shop at 49 Keptie Street, and also in The Hour Image Gallery, 93 Castle Street, Forfar, which is due to open in November.

They are also available directly from Ann and Rikki at rikkicraig@hotmail.com or by calling 01241 431511.

They are £8 each with 15 per cent going to HAAR.
