Fitness enthusiasts in Arbroath are being urged to put their names down for a petition to further develop the West Links with an outdoor gym.
A survey has been developed by the Angus Council communities team to gauge public support for the installation of such a facility.
The survey identifies five possible locations for the gym; the West Links, Inchcape Park, Springfield Park, Victoria Park and Keptie Pond and also asks what kind of equipment should be installed and how often the person filling out the form is likely to use it.
According to the survey though the West Links appears to be the favoured location and asks how equipment should be arranged and where the gym should stand, for example on the old playpark, next to the skatepark or by the railway bridge.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We are trying to gauge people’s interest in this idea, but before Angus Council explores funding sources, the level of support must be determined.
“An outdoor gym is an outdoor activity area that can be used by everyone over 14 years of age. It contains equipment that will offer a full body workout.
“It also has a range of uses for everyone, from those who wish to mix walking with a bit more strenuous exercise, to those who would like to develop a fitness/running/jogging trail incorporating the outdoor gym equipment.”
