ARBROATH Abbey Timethemes gave their last performance of the season at the weekend.
Fittingly their re-enactment of the signing of the Declaration of Independence was given at the very site on which it took place in 1320, and they gave two performances in the Abbey forecourt on Saturday.
The group decided to end a busy year touring historical sites such as Brechin Castle as well as visiting local primaries to educate them in Scottish history.
The document is believed to have been drafted by the Abbot of Arbroath, Bernard of Kilwinning and was signed by the Scottish nobility before being presented to the Pope in Rome in April, 1320.
Our photographer was on hand to take a picture of King Robert the Bruce and his assembled court of nobles and clergymen as they signed the historic document.
