ARBROATH Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild held their annual fund-raising dinner last week, raising a fantastic sum.
Around 140 people attended the event at the Meadowbank Inn on Friday, and although the full amount has yet to be collected, organisers believe £6,000 was raised.
The main speaker for the evening was Mr John Htet-ken from Burma who gave a talk on learning to laugh at our faults and his experiences as a Burmese man in Britain.
Members of the Arbroath RNLI crew were on hand to help with the raffle and auction, presided over by Mr David Birse and the vote of thanks was given by vice-president Maureen Morrison
A spokesperson for the Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild said: “A great night was had by all, the speakers were fantastic and there were lots of funny stories.
“We would like to thank all of our sponsors and the people who supported the auction and raffle.
“Of course our thanks also go to everyone who attended and gave so generously, and Niall Milne and his staff at the Meadowbank for their help in making it such good fun.”
