SEVERAL local organisations have been awarded cash in the latest round of Angus Council’s community grant scheme.
The Royal British Legion in Arbroath has received £2,500 for environmental improvements, as they aim to transform the outside garden area into a place groups can carry out activities.
Letham Grange Golf Club were also awarded the substantial sum of £3,000 in order to help buy a debris blower to maintain the courses during the winter.
Arbroath Allotment and Garden Association were successful and given £891 so they can purchase two sheds and two chemical toilets.
Meanwhile Auchmithie Tots were awarded £680 to help with equipment and for insurance and membership to the Scottish Pre-School Play Association.
This is the last round of awards in the current financial year and brings the total grant investment in local community projects to over £156,000 in 2011/12.
The council’s infrastructure services convener David May said: “These grants have proved to be invaluable to community groups as they offer that extra bit of funding for equipment and activities that can otherwise be difficult to get.
“Once again a huge variety of organisations from across Angus have received support during the past financial year which shows the level of activity that’s going on week in week out in each of our burghs.”
