Good cause to benefit from club’s open day

An Arbroath club is hoping to do a good deed and themselves a favour with their upcoming charity open day.

Following on from the success of their inaugural club open day held in 2014, Arbroath Accordion and Fiddle Club will once again be hosting a charitable event in aid of a good local cause.

The event, scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 4, 2015, will again be held at the Meadowbank Inn on the outskirts of Arbroath.

This year the chosen charity will be the Grant Callachan Family Fund. The club decided at their latest meeting that the proceeds from the open day should go to this family. The unfortunate circumstances surrounding Grant and his family have been extensively recorded in the media so the decision to support them was unanimous.

So far supporters and well-wishers have raised over £6000 which is being used for one last family holiday. For details on how to support them search for the Fundraiser for Grant page on Facebook

Avril Abbot, Arbroath Accordion and Fiddle Club vice-chairman and prime mover of last year’s highly-successful day, told the Arbroath Herald: “We are in the final stages of planning what we hope will be another very successful event.

“There really will be something for everyone with the afternoon Club Player session from 2 to 5pm and, of course, in the evening we have Marian Anderson and her very popular band playing for mixed dancing, including ceilidh, old time and Scottish country dancing from 7.30pm.”

An afternoon ticket costs £3 with the evening dance costing £6. An all day ticket is £8 and further
