AN ARBROATH couple presented a cheque to help a lung support group at Arbroath Infirmary last Wednesday.

Bert and Janie Williamson recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and instead of gifts asked well-wishers to donate to the Angus Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.

The programme benefits patients with chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) from across the county and is delivered by health professionals from Angus Community Health Partnership (CHP). COPD is a term used for a number of lung conditions including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Mr Williamson has attended the programme in the past and wanted to raise money to show his appreciation for the care he received from staff.

Accepting the cheque, Angus CHP’s lead respiratory specialist nurse Maureen Fagan said: “I would like to thank Mr and Mrs Williamson for this very generous donation.

“It was very kind of them to use their special golden wedding anniversary celebrations to raise funds for respiratory patients.”
