The Arbroath High School Go4SET team members have at last been presented with their certificates after working closely as a team to complete the Water and Your School Go4SET challenge late last year.

The team was mentored by Louise Smart from Michelin Tyres.

As part of the same project the S2 group of girls [see main picture] comprising Eden Main, Niamh McGonagle, Drew Bruce, Sarah Croall and Ellis Mathieson achieved a Silver Crest Award.

The regional final of the competition was held at the University of Dundee in December. The girls’ project was especially well regarded by the other pupils competing in the project.

DESIGN A LOGO: Forfar Rotary were looking for an eye-catching logo for their Angus Marafun event sponsored by local firm Astute.

High School pupil Hugo Morrow (S2) (pictured) came third, winning £10 and his own logo design printed onto a mug.

His design was signed by Ian Callum – internationally acclaimed Scottish Car Designer best known for the Aston Martin driven by James bond and the new F Type Jaguar.

Scottish Schools Sports: High School athletes who were involved in the recent Scottish Schools event at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow acquitted themselves well.

Naimh Feighan competed at under-16 level and threw 10.37m in the shot putt, finishing fourth in Scotland.

Ellen Robertson also performed well, with a high jump of 1.55m, finishing in sixth place.

BASKETBALL: Commiserations are due to the S1 Boys basketball team who travelled to Inverkeithing High School in Fife on March 10, for the last 16 of the Scottish Cup. They were narrowly beat 32-28.

FOOTBALL: The S1 boys’ football team progressed to the last 16 of the Scottish Schools Plate Competition. They travelled to Northfield Academy in Aberdeen and won comfortably, 7-0. Scorers were Aaron Lyall, Lee Paterson, Lewis Greig, Max Duff (2) and Elliot Boath (2).

Arbroath HS travelled to Carnoustie recently for a Senior Angus Cup football match. AHS had most of the possession but found themselves 2-0 down at half-time. A strong start to the second half was rewarded by two quick goals - a header from Brodie Cattenach-Roger and a solo effort from Finn Sutherland. One further goal from each side took the game to a penalty shoot-out which Arbroath High School won 6-5.
