‘Giving Back to the Community’ deadline is next week

THE DEADLINE is fast approaching for applications to the ‘Giving Back to the Community’ campaign.

Brothers Valy and Shiraz Ossman have pledged to help good causes in Arbroath with a donation of £10,000 to be shared between the three most worthy, as judged by the readership of the Arbroath Herald.

The donation is their way of saying thank you to Arbroath for the years of support given to their businesses in the town.

Valy said: “As a gesture of goodwill to the community we want to donate £10,000 to the charities and good causes that are based in Arbroath.

“Arbroath and the people here have always supported us and now we want to give something back to the community.

“There has been a lot of negative press about Arbroath and I want to generate some positivity for a change.”

There will be awards of £5,000, £3,000 and £2,000 available and the only stipulation is that the money goes to an Arbroath cause.

Anyone planning to nominate a charity, a worthy individual or a local good cause must write to the Arbroath Herald giving the reasons why they merit a cash award and the nomination must be received in writing at the Arbroath Herald offices at 21 Market Place, Arbroath, DD11 1HR, before Wednesday, August 15. Envelopes should be clearly marked ‘Giving Back to the Community’.

A panel will then meet to draw up a shortlist of causes which will the public will then be able to vote on.
