Generous Legion just can’t stop giving

THE ARBROATH branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland up to the beginning of this week had donated £5,450 to local and ex-service charities.

And on Monday evening in the Helen Street clubrooms a further £2,000 was handed over from the branch and the ladies’ section.

Branch donations were: Art Moves, £200; CAFE Project, £200; Arbroath Instrumental Band, £200; League of Friends of Arbroath Infirmary, £200; and Muirfield Playgroup, £200.

During this year, the ladies’ section had already paid out an amazing £12,808 to ex-service charities.

Monday’s recipients of their bounty were: Legion Pipe Band, £200; Angus Special Playschemes, £200; CAFE Project £200; HOPE, £200; and Salvation Army, Arbroath, £200.

It was reported that this year’s Poppy Scotland collection in Arbroath realised £17,400.
