Nearly £3,000 was raised at the weekend for the battle against brain tumours thanks to the efforts of a group of Arbroath volunteers.

A most successful coffee morning took place in the Old and Abbey Church Hall on Saturday morning raised £2,778.15 for Brain Tumour Research.

Mrs Jen Speirs said: “I would like to say that without the support, hard work and generosity of friends and family who helped beforehand and on the day, that we could not have achieved such a large amount of money.

“Linda Ramsay will be holding two car boot sales next year for the same charity. Linda was receptionist/caretaker for four years at the old Hayshead Surgery, and worked with my late husband.

“A proms concert is taking place on May 23, 2015, back by popular demand, and the profits from the concert will go to Brain Tumour Research.

“I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone, and hope to see you all at future events.”

Ian Scott was also there selling his wife Jean’s prints and notelets, and he gave a considerable donation to Brain Tumour Research.
