IT WAS standing room only at the meeting of Arbroath Accordion and Fiddle Club at Arbroath Artisan Golf Club on Sunday.

A capacity crowd enjoyed solo and group performances from both local and visiting players from around the UK.

Chairman Tony Simpson said: “There was a terrific atmosphere at the meeting and the audience gave all the players a warm welcome. It was music, music, music from 7.30 p.m. onwards, performed by the very young and by the perhaps not so young!

“Whatever their age, the players enjoyed themselves.

“Our guest musicians were the Susan MacFadyen Trio from West Kilbride, comprising Susan MacFadyen on accordion, her sister Shona on fiddle and the Club’s own Avril Abbot helping out on drums.”

Mr Simpson concluded: “Susan, who has done several broadcasts on ‘Take The Floor’ and her fellow musicians delivered a fine performance, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the appreciative audience. Their comprehensive programme included solo fiddle performances and a song from Shona. As usual our evening ended with the customary ‘stramash’.”

Doors will open at the revised time of 7.30 for an 8 p.m. start.
