THE LAST surviving founding member of Arbroath Round Table, Willie Rae, was a guest of the current members at Arbroath’s home game against East Fife on Saturday.

Willie (96) had not been to a football game in well over 30 years and really enjoyed the occasion while getting to know two of the newest members of the club, Jamie Buchan and Martin Smith.

He was joined by Bob Dawson and Dave Hunter who were treated to a match day out courtesy of Arbroath Round Table and Arbroath Football Club. The men were collected from their houses and taken to the game, treated to a pie and Bovril at half-time and then taken home after the match.

Round Table vice-chairman and community officer Malcolm Scott commented: “It was an absolute pleasure to provide this hospitality to the pensioners of Arbroath. Thanks to Arbroath Football Club who provided the tickets and the members of the Arbroath Round Table who provided the time and manpower. A good day out is had by all at the games throughout the season.”
