Flower club’s 25th birthday dinner

THE CHAIR of Arbroath Flower Club, Mrs Sandra Begg, welcomed members and guests to their 25th anniversary celebration dinner at the Meadowbank Inn recently.

Demonstrator for the evening was Mr John Dalton who had come from Cumbria.

He started his fabulous demonstration called snowflakes and candlelight, with a dramatic tall vase arrangement using seasonal foliage, white chrysanthemums, white carnations, a tall black mask  with feathers and two smaller masks at lower levels, giving a truly stunning arrangement.

Second came a large bowl shaped container covering the oasis with ivy and filling in with small red gerbera.

A tall bark container was used next and filled with white sparkle twigs, eucalyptus, western hemlock, silver cones and large white gerbera. As a final touch he placed three tiered mushrooms with rabbits  to complete the design.

Finally came a beautiful grand design using a gold leaved bowl, firstly placing tall twigs and a variety of well conditioned foliage before adding peach titanic roses, red carnations, large peach anthuriums and alstromeria.

Mrs Evelyn Young gave the vote of thanks and Sandra Begg reminded everyone about the meeting on Thursday, January 19, at 7.30 p.m. at the Royal British Legion Scotland, Arbroath.

The demonstrator will be Jillian Page from Kirriemuir with ‘Something Special’.
