Plans that will see the former Arbroath Lads’ Club rooms demolished and replaced with six flats have been approved by Angus Council.
At the development standards committee on Tuesday, elected members gave the green light to the proposal for the site on Alexandra Place.
However, the majority of the boundary walls would be retained and incorporated into the proposed new development comprising a two storey frontage block.
And each flat will have two bedrooms a bathroom and open plan living, dining and kitchen space.
Five letters of representation were received by the authority with concerns relating to parking, health and safety, loss of view and inappropriate design and materials.
However Alan McKeown, strategic director of communities said: “The proposal is considered to represent a reasonably high quality development that would bring a redundant site in a residential area back into productive use.”
