Arbroath’s all-weather lifeboat RNLB ‘Inchape’ was launched yesterday (Wednesday) to assist a lobster fishing boat which had suffered twin engine failure.

A request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard at 11.45 a.m. and the volunteer RNLI crew launched a short time later.

With one person on board, the fishing boat had drifted approximately five miles from shore at Westhaven.

Upon arriving at the scene, the RNLI crew fixed a towline and escorted the stricken vessel safely back to Arbroath harbour.
