Sport in Arbroath will receive a welcome boost next weekend at the inaugural event for a community sports hub concept.
The first Arbroath Community Sports Hub open day will take place on Saturday, June 22, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and is aimed at folk of all ages.
Visitors to the open day at the Arbroath Sports Centre will have the chance to meet representatives from a number of Arbroath sporting organisations.
Sports represented will include cricket, rugby, athletics, netball, tennis, football, bowling, hockey, swimming, basketball, and Arbroath Sport Centre activities including aqua zumba, power plate, hula hoop, body combat and body step will also be showcased.
Attendees can enjoy a 20 minute taster session with each club.
They will also be given a stamp entitling them to attend a free session with the local sport clubs during the school summer holiday period.
There will also be an opportunity to have fun on the giant inflatables.
One free swimming session will also be available for each child when accompanied by two adults at Arbroath Sports Centre.
The basic principle of the hub is for local sports clubs to collaborate for the greater good of sport in the town and to make the many different sports clubs in the town as sustainable as possible for the longer term.
Angus Council development officer, Jordann Cunningham said: “It is an exciting time for Angus sports clubs and the local community. This day will give local people the opportunity to try out new sports and see what their local community has on offer.”
