Public invited to be inspired in Glenesk

Local charity Angus Arts recently announced a new project that aims to help people ‘Be Inspired in Glenesk’ (BIG).

It offers people the chance to get involved in fabulous outdoor arts adventures running once a month throughout the summer.

The next event, ‘Top Of The World’, is coming up on Sunday (July 7) and will be led by Virginia Aspinwall and Maria MacDonell.

Virginia explained: “We plan to reach the old peat bogs where the landscape changes and takes on mysterious forms. We will get out our drawing materials to create dynamic hill-top art.

“The day is for all ages - many children are strong walkers and the trip will be fascinating and engaging all the way. We will be staying on footpaths and it will not be all that many miles, uphill at the start but downhill at the end. Please do enquire about age suitability.”

Participants need to be at the Retreat at 10 a.m. for the start of this exciting adventure. The group will be guided elsewhere to start the walk.

Bring a packed lunch, or one can be ordered in advance from the Retreat. It is important to book in advance and to be prepared for all weathers. ‘Phone at any time with enquiries and to book.

‘Top Of The World’ will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with participants invited to meet up at The Retreat Visitor Centre in Glenesk before being taken elsewhere. The cost is £8 with a family discount available. The Glenesk Retreat is open from 10 a.m. and is home to a free Folk Museum, a restaurant/tea room, a gift shop and an outdoor play area.
