Fund ready to help Angus coast

THE ANGUS Coastal European Fisheries Fund is now open for business and wants to hear from groups with ideas from the local coastline.

The new fund will support projects that bring economic benefit to the Angus coastal area, with a strong focus on fisheries and maritime related activity.

The Angus Coastal Fisheries Local Action Group administers the fund with support from Angus Council.

The action group is keen to hear from groups, organisations and businesses with ideas for projects on the Angus coast, from north of Montrose to Monifieth.

A diverse range of projects are eligible providing they have a strong and lasting community benefit.

The fund can support projects such as those that will attract investment and new business into the area; create new jobs outside the fisheries sector; train people for new trades; promote eco-tourism; promote products with low environmental impact; offer workshops or exhibitions on using local sea produce; or introduce young people to the fishing industry.
