A GROUP of Angus folk have raised £2,000 for charity, by completing a 12-hour endurance event around the county on Saturday.
Over 20 people participated in the event which started at 6 a.m. in Arbroath after being organised by Arbroath men Ian Wren and Gary Bruce.
Participants cycled, ran or walked all or part of the circuit of over 130 miles to raise money for Cancer Research and Horseback UK.
Ian was impressed with the effort: “It was really tough and the wind was rough.
“Everybody did fantastically well and in excess of £2,000 has been raised.”
“Around 15 people cycled all or part of the circuit while others ran or walked. The support we’ve received has been excellent.”
The Horseback UK charity, which allows traumatised soldiers to relieve their stress by caring for horses, is one of the causes benefiting from the fund-raiser.
Mr Wren lives in Arbroath and is an electricity meter operative. He is a former sergeant and served in the TA as the catering unit manager in the 212 Highland Battery.
