CARNOUSTIE runner Eilish McColgan will still compete in the Olympics 3,000 metre steeplechase on Saturday despite being hit by a car in training.
The 21-year-old was out running in Portugal on Wednesday morning, where Great Britain’s athletics team have been stationed at a holding camp.
A car, that was said to be slowing at the time struck Eilish causing her to fall on the car’s bonnet.
Luckily she did not suffer any injuries in the incident and she was declared fit to race before she boarded a flight to London with the rest of her team-mates.
And her mum, former 10,000 metre world champion Liz McColgan, tweeted her relief saying: “Eilish got hit by car this morning in her run but thankfully she is ok. Just stiff back prob be bit worse Tomo. Lucky lady.”
