AN ARBROATH runner is gearing up to take part in his eighth London Marathon next weekend.
Ewan Rae (52) will be pounding the streets of the nation’s capital on April 22 and once again he will be helping out a good cause.
This time he will be raising money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool which cares for very sick children.
The hospital looks after Elise Powell, daughter of his friend, former Arbroath FC player Danny Powell, and Ewan was keen to help out.
He has already played in many charity football games for the hospital.
And on securing a place to run in this year’s marathon he said he would raise money for Alder Hey.
The hospital aims to help improve the quality if life for children as well as research medical conditions and buy vital equipment.
However, as Ewan has become a veteran of the gruelling 26-mile course, he is relaxed about the run, which will be his first London Marathon in five years.
He said: “It does get difficult as you get older but I haven’t done any special training.
“I have always been training and running since I was 21 and now I’m 52.”
