Senior pupils ‘graduate’

The pupils - all of whom are just entering S4 - stay in a student hall of residence for the week. They visit different universities and colleges each day, and try their hands at a wide variety of different subjects. This year, these have ranged from Psychology at St Andrews University to animal care at Elmwood College. The week culminates with a graduation event to which parents and VIP guests are invited to celebrate with the young people

PUPILS of Arbroath Academy were among a group of young people from 12 schools across Fife and Tayside who ‘graduated’ last Friday after a week spent living as HE students on a ‘Lift off to Success’ (LO2S) project.

As part of the Scottish Funding Council’s national Schools for Higher Education Programme, LO2S was supported by a partnership of local colleges and universities.

The pupils – all of whom are just entering S4 - stayed in a student hall of residence for the week. They visited different universities and colleges each day, and tried their hands at a wide variety of different subjects. This year, these ranged from psychology at St Andrews University to animal care at Elmwood College.
