A CAMPAIGN which aims to encourage parents and carers to play, talk and read more with their young children, called PlayTalkRead, will visit Arbroath next week.
Housed on a bespoke bus, it will be at The Saltire Leisure Centre on Tuesday. This is the first time the ‘Have Fun From Day One’ tour has visited Angus.
A spokesman stated: “Research shows that children develop up to 50 per cent of their language skills before they are aged three and parents can help develop this through simple and fun interactions from the first day of your baby’s life.
“The team on the bus will provide Bookbug and play sessions and give lots of ideas, hints and tips to take home to help enrich family time with storytelling, rhymes and songs and by demonstrating that often the best play ideas don’t cost a penny – a bottle could be a rocket or add some rice and it’s a musical shaker. Children love using their imagination!”
The one-stop website www.playtalkread.org has fun, free tips to support you to play, talk and read more with your child, and an on-line community where you can register to chat with other parents, share tips, advice, photos and much more.
