THE UNIVERSITY of Abertay Dundee offers a range of opportunities to develop skills and competence in the area of counselling.
All its courses are supported by a team of full-time and part-time tutors who are experienced in working with a broad spectrum of client groups and problems.
The student experience is enhanced by access to excellent library facilities and purpose-built training rooms.
The Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills (validated by COSCA – Counselling in Scotland) runs over a year, with attendance on one half-day per week (morning, afternoon or evening), with occasional Saturdays.
From September the Abertay Certificate in Counselling Skills will be available in Montrose, with classes on Mondays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will have access to Abertay facilities, including on-line library provision.
The two-year part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling programme at Abertay, validated by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, offers training in a flexible, pluralistic approach to counselling, for those seeking a formal professional qualification in this field. The Abertay Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) provides specialist training in this increasingly important approach to therapy. There is also a programme of one and two-day Continuing Professional Development workshops that are open to anyone with an interest in counselling.
