ICT cash for schools

ANGUS Council has pledged funding for schools to ensure they have access to the latest information technology.

The authority’s education committee agreed at its meeting on Tuesday to allocate £496,000 towards ICT in schools. Members heard that ICT was becoming more and more important in providing learning and teaching opportunities.

Welcoming the committee’s support for further investment in ICT, convener Sheena Welsh said: “The council recognises the importance of ICT in primary and secondary schools, and has made significant investment in the past to ensure that all our schools have excellent ICT resources.

“The majority of our schools and education establishments have access to excellent ICT resources, but in a fast changing world, it is vital that we continue to maintain progress and invest in new and emerging technologies, and to embed ICT effectively within the school curriculum.”
