AN ARBROATH pre-school group had a busy week recently with visits from some special guests.

As part of their World Book Day activities the children at Hayshead Pre-School were visited by the literary development officer for Angus, Sylvia Main, who read stories to the children.

They were also visited by the Bookbug himself who gave out pirate book packs to the three year olds.

The children also visited the school library where Pam Ruxton from the early intervention department read to the children from Julia Donaldson’s ‘What the ladybird heard’.

The story was followed by a craft session allowing the children to make their own ladybirds.

To round it all off the children paid a visit to Arbroath Library where the Hayshead Pre-School staff read them stories and held ‘Rhyme Time’.

Gail Cooper, early years practitioner at Hayshead said: “The staff would like to thank all of the parent helpers who accompanied the children to the library, as well as Sylvia Main and the staff at Arbroath Library.”
