Gordon Ross, grand superintendent, presented band members with a cheque for £1000 at their new premises at Panbride Works recently.
Morag McKenzie, secretary of Arbroath Pipe Band, told the Herald: “We are so very grateful for this very generous donation at this time.
“As well as preparing for the competitions season this year, we are busy working on our new premises.
“Having this venue, allows us more time to spend teaching piping and drumming to people in the local area without having the time restrictions of renting venues.”
The band have been delighted by the support they enjoy from the community.
Morag continued: “As a self-supporting band, we rely greatly on the support and generosity of local people, organisations and groups to help us in our fundraising efforts and it is truly gratifying to know that so many people support what we do.”
Mr Ross added: “It is always great to get involved with organisations that support local children in our area and this is the first of five such cheques we will be handing out this year.
‘‘We would wish the Arbroath Pipe Band all the best for a successful year ahead.”
