An Arbroath mum has earned herself a job with a top Angus salon thanks to her evening course in hairdressing at Angus College.
Susan McAllister is one of the college’s first graduates from the evening class for NC Hairdressing and will now work at Merchants in Forfar.
According to Susan the ability to work during the day and study at night was ideal.
She said: “I loved the course. Absolutely loved it. It meant I could look after my children, work part-time and qualify as a hairdresser.
“I have a seven-year-old and a two-year-old and halfway through the course I became a single parent. That could have been the moment I pulled out, but I loved the idea of becoming a hairdresser and being able to study in the evening was a lifeline. The course lecturers were so fantastic.”
Course lecturer Mary Meikle added: “It is amazing that willingness, perseverance and commitment, over two evenings a week can have such life changing effects! This course has been really successful for all those people who struggle to fit studying in during their working day.”
