Both Arbroath lifeboats were launched early this morning (August 10) following reports of people in the sea close to Red Lion Caravan Park.

A request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard at around 1.45am and both lifeboats were quickly launched.

Upon arriving at the scene, the volunteer RNLI crew established that three casualties were in the process of leaving the water into the care of Police Scotland officers and a waiting ambulance crew.

Both lifeboats returned to station shortly before 3am.
