Top of the Shotz Arbroath pool venue is hosting American pool legend Earl Strickland on June 7 for an exhibition night.

Earl ‘The Pearl’ Strickland is a celebrated figure on the pool circuit winning six World Championships and five US Open 9-Ball Championships.

Starting in 1983 Earl has honed his craft to become one of the most exciting and sometimes controversial players in the game.

Co-owner of Shotz Ryan Fleming said: “Earl is really one of a kind. If anyone has seen him on sports channels over the past 20 years they will understand it really is tough to say what to expect. With Earl, anything can happen.”

The evening will be a masterclass of pool and endless entertainment from one of the biggest characters to ever hold a cue.

Mr Fleming and brother Marc, who co-own the modern pool and snooker venue can’t wait for the event.

“What we are looking forward to most is getting to meet Earl and see how much of his personality, that comes through watching him on TV, reflects in him as a person.

“He is probably the greatest cueist ever to live and for the two of us, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

As well as being a skilful player Earl is no stranger to controversy. Famed for his explosive outbursts, he is undoubtedly going to draw a crowd.
