A Stagecoach bus driver from Dunfermline depot, has been awarded the ‘Driver of the Year’ award at this year’s Bus Driver Of The Year competition in East Scotland.
Brian Mackie has won the competition for the third consecutive year and also won in 2008 showing his consistently high standard of work since joining the company 13 years ago.
A number of Stagecoach East Scotland’s best drivers took part in the annual contest which tested their driving skills with a short drive around Dunfermline.
The drivers then completed a specially adapted theory test, which included questions on road safety and hazard awareness.
Second place went to Steven Fiddes also from Dunfermline depot and Gillian Prophet from Arbroath depot took third place.
Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: “I’m delighted to congratulate Brian again on his win as our best bus driver in East Scotland. Having won the award for ‘Driver of the Year’ for the fourth time, it just proves his skill and overall commitment to his job.
“Many of our drivers across East Scotland consistently surpass our expectations in their day-to-day duties and it’s great that their efforts can be rewarded.”
Winner of £300 cash, Brian Mackie, and the runner-up, Steven Fiddes, will now go on to compete in the National Driver of the Year finals, which will be held in Blackpool in September.
