AN ARBROATH band has teamed up with a local nightclub to raise funds for the town fireworks display.

‘Declaration’ will appear at Coast nightclub on Friday, October 28 from 9 p.m. to help boost the funds of the Arbroath Community Fireworks Display.

Howard Cargill from the band said: “We have decided to waive our normal fee so that all monies on the night go to the firework fund.”

Coast owner Nevada Mitchell added the evening promised to be a good one. He said: “All the entrance fee money will be donated from what promises to be a fun evening with the band, games, a raffle and the usual disco.”

Councillor David Fairweather commented: “I was delighted when approached by the club and the band and this will considerably boost the display with over £8,000 of fireworks ordered.

“I will be asking the council for extra parking at Low Common as I am expecting a large crowd at Inchcape Park on November 5.

“Donations cans till be made and anyone wishing to contribute can call me on 07766073823 or pop in to see Howard at ‘Carpet Disco’ on Millgate.”

There will be a bucket collection on the night with proceeds going to the Arbroath branch of the RNLI and also for next year’s event.
