PARTICIPANTS of the first ever Arbroath New Year’s Day Dook were presented with commemorative certificates in the town’s library on Thursday evening.

The event, which raised more than £2,000 for Cancer Research UK, saw around 40 people brave the freezing water at the West Links cheered on by a crowd of around 200 supporters.

On Thursday, the brave dookers were given certificates to congratulate them on their efforts and to say thank you for all the money they raised for the charity.

Joining them was Richard Cowie from Cancer Research UK, holding up the picture board and Alana Loudon who organised the event along with the Angus committee of the charity.
