Heed the message and don’t feed the seagulls urge Angus Council following the installation of new signs in Arbroath Harbour. Roof nesting by gulls is a fairly recent phenomenon and colonies are now commonly found in many towns and cities.
Angus Council is doing their part to help control bird colonies with new warning signs and a free egg retrieval service.
The council’s convener of communities, Councillor Donald Morrison, said: “The council’s free nest and egg retrieval service has been well used since its introduction in 2009 and we will be able to further reduce the gull nuisance in our streets and open areas if people stop feeding them, so I urge people to heed the message on the new signs.”
