Dirty streets still a problem

THE CAMPAIGN to rid our streets of dog mess is still going strong with readers continuing to name and shame our dirtiest streets.

And this time Marketgate and Ladybridge Street have come in for criticism as being littered with dog’s droppings.

One reader told us: “Ladybridge Street near the flats is disgusting as is Marketgate near the Ship Inn and the Marketgate.

“They are all filthy.”

And another agreed by naming the dual carriageway as well as Marketgate and Ladybridge Street as hot spots.

The West Links has also come under fire yet again with one grandmother, who is also a dog owner, saying the amount of dog mess is “beyond a joke.”

She explained: “I am an owner of two dogs and I stay on the outskirts of Arbroath, but of late we have started taking our dogs for a walk at the West Links.

“This is a lovely walk but I have to say the amount of dog mess is beyond a joke. The grass area, you have to watch where you put your feet and if I have my grandson with us, we have to keep telling him to watch where he is walking.

“The putting green last week was covered in dog mess and also the entrance to the children’s play park had dog mess.

“I know the percentage of owners clean up after their dogs, but there is always the few that have to spoil it for the rest of the owners and then we all get a bad name.”

Meanwhile via the @Arbroath_Herald twitter page, @dafergal said: “Dog mess in Academy Lane. Right outside my and my neighbours front door.”

Another user @bobbyruss66 added: “Bruce Road at Brechin Road end hotspot for dog fouling, witnessed someone not picking up behind them in Bruce Road.”

Keep letting us know what you think about the dog mess situation around the town and if it is getting better or worse.

Also let us know your suggestions on how we can improve the situation.

And of course keep telling us which streets are littered with fouling and we will let everybody know in our ‘poo points’ feature.
