The date for a by-election for the Arbroath East and Lunan area of Angus has been set.
It will be held on Monday, November 28.
It is to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councillor Bob Spink for health reasons earlier this month.
The Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 requires a by-election to be held within three months of the vacancy being made.
An Angus Council spokesperson said: “Polling would usually be held on a Thursday.
“However, the returning officer recognised there is a high number of schools in this ward that are used as polling places and felt it practical to take advantage of the in-service day on Monday, November 28.
“This means there will be no disruption to the school day.
“We will publish further information about the by-election on our website shortly.”
