SCOTTISH country dancers from all over the area marked the Year of the Light with a special event on Friday evening in the CAFE Project.

Members of the East Angus branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society came together for an event which featured 17 popular dances on the programme.

Music was provided by Frank Thomson of Aberdeen and the evening kicked of with the ‘Festival Fling’ and was followed by a special dance called ‘The Bell Rock Reel.’

One of the participants enjoying the event was 88-year-old Isobel Lockhart who was one of four octogenarians still involved in country dancing and she was presented with flowers by branch secretary Irene Haton.

Also at the dance was a replica scale model of the Bell Rock lighthouse which was made by Peter White from Carnoustie.

Anybody wanting to join the East Angus branch of country dancing or get involved can contact Heather Lockhart on 07974 663474, who runs classes at Showcase the Street in Arbroath on Saturday mornings.
