TAYSIDE Police, in partnership with Halfords, is hosting a cycle safe event at the store on the Westway Retail Park between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Following on from the campaign regarding careless and dangerous use of pedal cycles in the Arbroath area, officers will be offering advice on safety and security for cyclists.
They are keen to ensure that bikes are kept safe and secure by offering members of the public the chance to have them security marked.
Officers are urging cyclists to take their bike to Halfords where it will photographed and security marked and will be issued with a ‘cycle passport’ which can be produced to the police if the bicycle is ever stolen.
This form of crime prevention is vital to assist the police and can be done for a small fee of £5.
Staff from Halfords will also be available to carry out a free service safety check on your bicycle.
