AN ARBROATH funeral home was the target of vandals at the weekend.

The damage to the front wall of David Mackay & Co. funeral director on Gowan Street was discovered by staff.

A series of heavy coping stones were pushed, or kicked, from the top of the boundary wall and landed in the flower garden immediately behind the wall.

Fortunately, the ground there is soft and it is hoped none of the coping stones will need replaced as a result of the fall.

Manager Rod McLaren was understandably upset. He said: “It’s senseless vandalism that’s going to cost us to repair.

“Given the profession we are in it’s a poor reflection on the people who did it. This would be upsetting for anyone to have done to their garden.”

The incident has been reported to the police who are currently investigating the matter, if anyone has any information regarding this they are asked to contact the police non-emergency number on 0300 111 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
