Angus councillors voted in favour of retaining Arbroath Library in the Common Good Fund at a meeting yesterday (Thursday).

The meeting of the full council discussed the future of Arbroath Library, which has been under question for some time, and it appears that future has been secured for the time being.

An amendment was proposed by Independent Arbroath East and Lunan councillor Bob Spink which argued that the library should be retained within the Common Good Fund and not be transferred into Angus Council’s General Fund.

Councillor Spink said: “The vote was quite convincing, it was 19 to nine, with one abstention, in favour of my amendment.”
