ANGUS Council is gearing up for the summer with a comprehensive programme of exciting activities to engage young people during their holidays.
From Monday, July 4, until Friday, August 12, children will have the opportunity to take part in a number of different sports and activities through Angus Leisure’s Active Angus 2011 - Summer Sports and Activities.
This combined programme includes all Angus Council leisure facility activities, sports specific coaching, dance workshops, Rural Summer Active Club, Angus Scottish FA summer football and sport and recreation for people with a disability.
The Active Angus 2011 programme will be distributed to all Angus Primary Schools and is also available at all Angus Council leisure facilities, country parks, libraries, museums, ACCESS offices and online at www.angus.gov.uk/leisure.
Activities on offer will be tennis camps; athletics; golf coaching; basketball camps; hockey coaching; a rugby camp and a full Scottish FA summer football programme.
Leisure Services dance team Angus 4 Danz has a number of summer dance workshops taking place across Angus.
This year will again see almost all of the activities in the booklet coming under the b-Active membership scheme which will allow a child to attend as many activities throughout the holidays as they would like for less than a pound a day.
Angus Council leisure services spokesperson, Councillor Jim Millar said: “I encourage young people throughout Angus to take part in the wide variety of sports and activities we have on offer this summer.”
