ANGUS Council are to launch two separate public consultations on the proposed closure of play areas and public toilets.
At Thursday’s neighbourhood services committee, it was revealed the local authority plan to close 50 of the 100 play areas in Angus.
But convener of the committee Councillor Donald Morrison moved that before decisions were taken on a report earmarking parks to be removed, the proposals should go out to public consultation.
The meeting also heard how Angus Council were proposing to close a number of unsupervised toilets across the county.
Plans to close these conveniences, which are subject to vandalism and or of very basic standards, will now also be deferred for public consultation.
