The Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s wind ensemble performs a delightful programme that is perfect for a summer evening at the Gardyne Theatre, Dundee on Thursday, June 12 at 7.30 p.m.

Beamish’s wonderful ‘Fanfare for two trumpets’ opens the concert, followed by music from d’Indy, Schubert and Mendelssohn.

A highlight of the evening is Poulenc’s ‘Duo for two clarinets’, performed by the brilliant Maximiliano Martín and William Stafford.

Spanish clarinettist Maximiliano Martín is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most exciting and charismatic musicians of his generation.

He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Tenerife, Barcelona School of Music and the Royal College of Music in London. He was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in 2002 and currently teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He regularly gives masterclasses in Spain.

The programme at the Gardyne Theatre ends with Beethoven’s ‘Rondino in E-flat’ and Gounod’s charming ‘Petite Symphonie’.
