College reducing carbon footprint

ARBROATH-based Angus College has achieved a 25 per cent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions more than three years earlier than planned.

The college’s carbon management plan was put in place in 2008, as part of the agreed national priorities, with all areas of the public sector.

Key aspects of the plan have included new biomass boilers, roof insulation, window replacement, better lighting and heating controls, as well as an awareness campaign encouraging people to switch off computers and lights.
