Coastguard search Arbroath cliffs for missing woman

A major search was launched in Arbroath yesterday (Thursday) following fears for the safety of a missing woman.

The Coastguard and Police responded to a missing person report on Thursday afternoon.

The search was stood down late last night.

It was confirmed by the Aberdeen Coastguard that local search teams will resume this morning (Friday).

A spokesperson said: “Local coastguard teams will be searching along the cliff path with local police officers.

“There are currently no RNLI teams involved in the search but they will be scrambled if the teams on the ground feel it warrants it.

“Police Scotland can confirm that enquiries are continuing this morning after a woman in her 60’s was reported missing in Arbroath at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101,” said a Police Scotland spokesperson.”
