Cloud 9 hoping for double success in the capital

AN ARBROATH hairdresser is hoping to taste double success after making it to the London finals of two prestigious hairdressing competitions.

Bekki Smith-Dutton from Cloud 9 on the West Port is the only hairdresser from a Scottish salon picked to audition for Talent Tribe.

Next Monday Bekki will travel to London for a five minute audition where she will show the judges and celebrities hairdressers a look she has created on a model.

If successful, she will receive training from some of the industry’s biggest names in cut and colour techniques and the latest trends.

And Bekki believes that if her five minute audition goes well, it could be a massive boost for her salon.

She explained: “It is a great opportunity and I am the only person in Scotland to get this far.

“I only get five minutes but if it goes well it could take Cloud 9 to a completely new level.

“I’m really chuffed to get this far because it is a massive opportunity and this year was the biggest number of applicants they have ever had.”

However, before the Talent Tribe audition, Bekki and her model Hannah Reynolds will be travelling to the capital this Monday for the final of the Redken NYC Hair Awards 2012.

The Cloud 9 team are competing in the cutting category and must complete a whole look including hair, make-up and clothes.

This year they had to take inspiration from a clothes designer and Hannah will be sporting a look inspired by Nicole Fahri.

Last year the salon came second in the colour category and this time they are hoping to go one better.

And if they are successful, they will win a trip to a hair symposium in Berlin as well as the chance to style a celebrity photoshoot.
