THE MAN who died following a cliff fall near Arbroath late on Thursday night has been named by Tayside Police as 18-year-old Lewis Lowe from Dishlandtown Street, Arbroath.

At about 11.40 p.m., emergency services were alerted to a missing man and concern was expressed for his safety. Information suggested he could be in the area of Arbroath cliffs and a search began.

This included police officers with a police dog, coastguard, both Arbroath lifeboats and a rescue helicopter from Royal Air Force Kinloss. A man was found at the foot of the cliffs at about 4.30 a.m. He had sustained life threatening injuries.

Paramedics were quickly at the scene and tended to the casualty en-route by helicopter to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Tragically the man succumbed to his injuries before arriving at hospital.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and as with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
