Do you know someone who deserves a bit of recognition? Then nominate them for the Arbroath Christmas Lights Switch On.

The search is on to find someone who can represent all that is good in the town and flip the switch to light up Arbroath on December 4. This year’s event is being organised by Chic Grant and Rev. Martin Fair, with help from the Arbroath Town Centre Retailers’ Association who will be taking up the reins next year. Chic said: “In conjunction with the Arbroath Herald we would like the people of Arbroath to nominate a deserving person, someone who has done something for the community, to switch on the Christmas lights.”

To nominate your deserving person simply fill out the form on this page and return it to our office at 21 Market Place, Arbroath, DD11 1HR.

The fun starts at 6pm with entertainment galore and the lights themselves will go on at 7pm.

The family-themed celebration will have stalls in the pedestrian precinct and anyone who would like to hire a slot should contact Sandy Beedie at AJ Beedie Jewellers and performers, bands, dance groups etc wishing to take part should contact Chic Grant on 01241 430400 or

It should also be noted that from 3pm on December 4 that part of High Street will be closed with no access through Kirk Square for traffic.
